I visited Izumo Taisha Shrine,
a place you must visit at least once in your life!
Izumo Taisha Shrine Entrance
Honestly, I didn’t have much information other than that
it’s a sacred place for matchmaking,
but since I had the opportunity to visit Shimane Prefecture,
I decided to check it out.
Incredible power!
So this is Izumo Taisha Shrine.
I also recommend purchasing a guidebook in advance.
Access from Izumo Airport
It took about 30 minutes by bus from Izumo Airport,
so it’s not very far.
It’s not that far,
so it’s easy to reach from the Tokyo area as well!
However,
since the bus frequency is limited,
I highly recommend researching in advance
if you’re not using a rental car!
Also, there is a station called
Izumo Taisha-mae Station
on the Ichibata Electric Railway,
which is about a 5-minute walk away.

[Izumo Taisha Shrine Tourism] The Rabbit Statue is Cute! [Tourism Review]
Now, let me jump right into the review!
The interior was spacious,
so I think you can comfortably
explore the area with about an hour to spare!
Izumo Taisha Shrine and the Rabbit
As you enter,
you’ll find cute rabbit bronze statues along the way!
Wow,
there are so many rabbits,
and they’re so cute!
It seems there are as many as
66 rabbit statues!
They’re located all around,
so it could be fun to search for them!
Rabbits are the messengers of the gods at Izumo Taisha Shrine.
It seems that’s why there are so many of them.
(Feel free to Google for more details!)
Izumo Taisha Shrine is very spacious, with vast grounds and a serene atmosphere.
The area inside is quite spacious,
covering about 18,000 square meters.
While it may be hard to imagine,
it is said that you can explore it comfortably in about 40 to 60 minutes.
Along the way to the main shrine, you’ll find various bronze statues, including the iconic rabbit statues, which add to the charm of the area. These statues are part of the shrine’s cultural and spiritual atmosphere, making the walk to the main hall even more enjoyable.
It’s truly a blessing to experience such words of wisdom.
The Gojiai no Shinzo (御慈愛の御神像)
This statue also had a powerful presence.
The area was lush with greenery, and the air was very fresh.
I don’t usually visit shrines, so it was a very refreshing experience for me.
To the main shrine (御本殿).
This is the main shrine (御本殿).
It’s truly magnificent… I was amazed!
There are a lot of people here!
It seems something has started.
Everyone was taking photos and videos.
(Sorry, I’m not sure what it was about…)
The Copper Torii (銅鳥居)
The presence of the Copper Torii was also incredibly impressive.
I took a complete tour around and offered my prayers.
Izumo Taisha Shrine has a different way of praying compared to typical shrines,
so be sure to pay attention to the proper customs!
「The proper way to pray at Izumo Taisha Shrine is two bows, four claps, and one bow (二礼四拍手一礼). This is a unique practice specific to the shrine, so it’s important to follow this custom when offering your prayers.」
- Two bows, two claps and one bow.
- Clap your hands four times
- First, bow, then put your money in. Next, clap your hands twice, then bow once again at the end.
My first time at Izumo Taisha. I’m glad I came. I’m going to eat Izumo soba from now on.
Izumo soba
Walk a little and take the train
I headed to Izumo City Station.
Speaking of Izumo, Izumo soba!
So I ate soba noodles.
“Oku-Izumo Soba Restaurant Ippuku”
I entered a shop called.
Beer is delicious because we walked a lot!
Bottled beer is also nice.
The long-awaited soba noodles!
Huh? It’s 3 tiers. .
It’s a strange soba!
This soba is called “wariko soba”
and seems to be a standard soba in Izumo!
It was my first time eating it and it was delicious!
This restaurant had instructions on how to eat it.
It was a strange feeling since it was my first time eating it, but it was really delicious!
It’s located right near Izumo Station, so if you’re in the Izumo area, please give it a try.
